Witchcraft Exposed

Witchcraft Exposed
By: Rev. Mark T. Blachley

Today, there is a vast interest in the world of the supernatural and most of that interest is in the occult.  Witchcraft is on a major rise today in America.  It goes by several names and titles, witchcraft, Wicca, white or black magic as well as many other terms.

The world’s witchcraft was born in Babylon although there are also indications of it having origins in ancient Egypt as well.  (Dan.2:1-2) In the beginning, when sin first entered into the earth, the world adopted a type of party type of lifestyle of giving in marriage and feasting and drinking.  Soon after, there was a campaign in the construction of the tower of Babel, which was in fact a spiritual rebellion against God Almighty.  The bible states in I Sam. 15:23 that rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft.  It is going to occultic influences to achieve your own desires through spells, incantations or even curses instead of going to God for the things you need and submitting to His will and purpose.

Babylon’s empire was built on the ruins of the tower of Babel.  Many demonic spirits probably resided there and it is a possibility that the high demonic rule of power at that time still resides over that region today.

King Nebuchadnezzar was highly influenced by demonic powers. But, God was in control.  God was the one to give him the dream that was interpreted by his servant Daniel.

A dream from God was not interpreted by the soothsayers and magicians of Babylon but by the servant of God.  Demons know their limitations.  God’s reply to Babylonian witchcraft was that He had something much more powerful.  Demonically inspired individuals never have the answers to man’s dilemma.  Which is why every nation that has embraced demonic power has always fallen miserably.  Witches practice magic by sorcery using oracles (authoritative pronouncements), spells, or weird mumblings.  In Egyptian culture, the Anhk or in depth teachings of pyramidology are the counterpart to witchcraft.  In the “Arab realm, it is the “evil eye”.  No matter what the form is, if it is outside God’s laws, it is forbidden.

The reason many go into witchcraft is because they serve a little g god and we serve a big G God.  What they have seen is as big as they think is available but there is much more.  Nebuchadnezzar and other leaders were amazed at the power of God displayed by his servants in Babylon. See (Dan.2:47-48)

God warned Babylon concerning their sorceries. See (Is.47:1,9) Babylon was destroyed because of the witchcraft being practiced there and they did not turn to the God of Daniel.

How does sorcery work though?  The term for sorcerer in Latin is “sors” which means “a-lot” or one who declares a-lot.  It is like throwing dice.  Or to cast lots.  That is what they did at the crucifixion of Christ over his garments.

Witchcraft includes the entire field of divinatory occultism.  It includes necromancy, which classifies as a type of sorcery.  But this is usually limited to those who practice Satanism.  A sorcerer is one skilled in magic.  Def. The knowing or wise one.  It is usually a spirit of divination or familiar spirit that works through people who practice witchcraft.  They do not have magical powers at all as it is the demon that manifests the desired outcome of their intentions, not magic.  This is the case with those who perform fortune telling.  See (Acts 16:16-19)

Today, this generation is overruned by witchcraft in all areas.  The church must stand up and use its God-given authority and power to confront the forces of darkness and set men free.
